APW - Waltham, five-minute repeater, 16-17J, 16S, 18K gold original Dennison Watch Case Co. HC bearing Chester hallmarks for 1913, gold cuvette, white enamel SS dial, SW-LS, nickel damascene, s#3793549. Gross weight of assembled watch 82.9 dwt (128.9 g).
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, frequent good repeat function and tone with the notable exception being inconsistency when the hour is at 12 in which case the mechanism frequently returns an incomplete number of hour strikes, sometimes returns no hour strikes, and occasionally returns a correct 12 hour strikes, overhaul needed if complete and consistent return function is desired at 12 hours, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, long scratch between center and edge of main plate, some scattered fine and micro-fine scratches elsewhere; dial with few scattered hls, short scratch at edge at 5, few scattered edge flakes under bezel; fine-plus hands, hour and minute are blue, seconds-hand is plum colored; case shows very light wear, scratch type indentation at left perimeter of front, dent to band at 5, dent to right side of slide on band, few dings or mild dents to front and rear shoulders, reduced engine turning detail with few small areas of full loss at shoulders, excellent engraving detail, case front opens slightly less than 90 degrees and lift spring allows lid to tilt a bit back toward closed with gravity; tight bow, crown shows light wear; good glass crystal.
